The 21st annual Human-Robot Interaction Pioneers Workshop will be held on March 16th, 2026 in conjunction with the 2026 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction.

HRI Pioneers seek to foster creativity and collaboration surrounding key challenges in human-robot interaction and empower students early in their academic careers. Each year, the workshop brings together a cohort of the world's top student researchers and provides the opportunity for students to present and discuss their work with distinguished student peers and senior scholars in the field.

Pioneers is a premiere forum for students in HRI, thus we invite students at any stage of their academic career to consider applying. To facilitate attendance, we aim to provide some support for travel and lodging expenses to accepted Pioneers. However, this is contingent on available funding and it is likely that not all Pioneers will be able to receive support. As our funding sources are separate for participants from US-based institutions and those from outside the US, the available support might differ between these two categories. We therefore encourage all US-based and non-US-based applicants to also apply for external travel grants, including those available through the main conference as well as student volunteer positions, for those that require this support.
